JS body for economic zones keeping SMEs

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry Tuesday recommended establishing economic zones (EZs) protecting the interests of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country, reports BSS. The recommendation was made at the 21st meeting of the standing committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman Suranjit Sengupta presiding. Committee members Law Minister Anisul Haq, M Tajul Islam Chowdhury, M Shamsul Haq Tuku, M Abdul Majid Khan, Talukder M Yunus, Advocate Ziaul Haq Mridha and Safura Begum attended the meeting, said an official release. The meeting held discussions on Bangladesh Economic Zone (Amendment) Bill, 2015. It recommended demarcation of land boundaries and acquiring land to establish Bangladesh Economic Zone for expediting industrialisation in the country. Principal Secretary at Prime Minister’s office, Secretary of Law and Justice Division and senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
