Leathertech begins at ICCB on Nov 16

The fifth edition of LEATHERTECH Bangladesh 2017 will begin on November 16 at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city aiming to bring global technology to the doorsteps of the local industry. The three-day long expo will showcase machinery, components, chemicals and accessories for leather, footwear and leather goods. The organiser made the disclosure at a press conference held at a city hotel on Sunday. ASK Trade and Exhibition is organising the tradeshow. Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) president Saiful Islam, ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd director Nanda Gopal and Centre of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh Limited (COEL) head of operations Kazi Roushan Ara were present at the press conference.Nanda Gopal said that nearly 250 exhibitors from 15 countries including China, India, Korea, Turkey, UK, Germany, Japan will come up with the stalls and pavilions in the expo.He also said it will be a great platform for the leather sector in Bangladesh to source machinery, components, dyes and chemicals and support services with larger participation from 15 countries.LFMEAB president Saiful Islam said that 25 percent contribution to the GDP should come from industrialisation and rests proportion should come from other sectors including export for a viable economy.Narrating the consistent growth of leather and leathergoods, LFMEAB president said that during the first five months of current fiscal, leather sector earned $428 million while leather footwear saw 9 percent year-on-year growth.Lead support to the event is provided by Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) with strategic partnership from COEL.The trade show will end on November 18 and it will remain open for visitors.
