Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) organised a meeting to implement annual performance agreement (APA) at the BEPZA Complex in the city on Wednesday. PMO Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad presided over the meeting, while BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Khan was present on the occasion. BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Sayed Nurul Islam, Member (Engineering) Md. Mosaddeque Ali, Secretary Md Shawkat Nabi, general managers and other officers and high officials of PMO were present in the meeting. This special meeting arranged with BEPZA officials on APA where government is going to introduce a new concept of annual performance to implement Vision-2021. Government has taken this initiative with their respective organisations to ensure institutional accountability, transparency, proper use of public resources, uphold the organizational success in a quantitative way and improvement of the organizational efficiency in public sector as a tool of performance managements. PMO principal secretary said ‘BEPZA is directly under Prime Minister’s Office, that’s why we are going to implement this APA with BEPZA as a model. As part of this initiative, the vision, mission, objectives and activities of the organizations have been reviewed in detail. He appreciated the BEPZA as saying it is playing a pivotal role in socio-economic development of the country. Mr Azad expressed his satisfaction on achievement of US$ 3505 million investment, $45 billion export earning and 4,14,000 employment creation for Bangladeshi including 64 per cent are female workforces.
