Japanese apparel retailer to open second German store

As part of its expansion plans in Europe, Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo said it will open a new store in Berlin, Germany in Fall 2015. “The store will be the second store in the German market, and will be located on Leipziger Platz Quartier, which is home to many international fashion and lifestyle brands,” it added in a press release. The new store on Leipziger Platz Quartier will have a total sales floor area of approximately 1,600 square metres, built over two levels and will offer a full line of men’s, women’s and kid’s clothing. Uniqlo first entered the German market in April 2014 with the opening of a global flagship store on Berlin’s popular shopping street, Tauentzienstrasse. “In Berlin, we have recently celebrated the first anniversary of our store on Tauentzienstrasse,” said Berndt Hauptkorn, CEO of Uniqlo Europe. “It is exciting to recognise the great fit between Uniqlo, our lifewear and our philosophy of customer service with Germany’s appreciation of quality, functionality and value for money,” he added. “We are pleased with our success so far in Berlin, which marks the beginning of our aim to grow our presence further in Germany and the larger German speaking region,” Hauptkorn informed.
