Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, and Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon, inaugurate operation of AirAsia flights on Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route, at a ceremony at a hotel in the capital on Thursday. Norlin Othman, Malaysian Ambassador to Dhaka and Irin Omor, Chief Executive of AirAsia, were present.Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said that Bangladesh has turned into a business hub as the prominent air companies are introducing air flights from Dhaka and other international airports of Bangladesh.Bangladesh has become an important business place and large number of businessmen arrive here as visitors, he added.Amu said this while addressing as chief guest the inauguration of the AirAsia flight on Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route, at a ceremony held at a city hotel in the capital on Thursday evening.Conveying thanks to AirAsia authority for introducing flights from Dhaka, Amu said that such initiatives will help travelers get standard travel services. This will also help the government earn more revenue.Rahsed Khan Menon, MP, Minister from Tourism and Civil Aviation addressed the function as special guest while Norlin Othman, Malaysian Ambassador to Dhaka and Mujibul Haque, Chairman of Total Airy Service, Sales Agent of AirAsia addressed the inauguration, among others. Irin Omor, Chief Executive of AirAsia chaired the ceremony.Addressing the event, Rashed Khan Menon said that AirAsia should pay more heed in providing better services to the travelers as a good number of people travel to and from Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur every year.He said that Bangladesh is also a lucrative destination for visitors and as a result the tourists will also be able to arrive here through the standard travel services of AirAsia.Introducing air service is not only starting an air-flight operation but also a symbol of friendship between the two countries, said Irin Omor.The world has got connected to a large air-network, she said adding that flight opening of AirAsia from Dhaka has paved the way of the people of the two countries to be connected socially and culturally.
