Ctg Expo-15 aimed at exploring RMG sector in world forum

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association(BGMEA) , Chittagong chapter is going to organize Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo(Ctg Expo-2015)  from August 6 next with an aim to explore every avenue towards achieving the vision of US $ 50 billion of RMG export in 2021. The 3-day event will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu, Chittagong. Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed is expected to grace the inaugural session as chief guest. Besides, Ambassadors of USA, EU also consented to attend the inaugural session, sources said. BGMEA sources said the representatives of the globally reputed garments importers and Buyers Forum will also participate the exposition. This was disclosed by the first Vice president of BGMEA Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury at views exchange meeting with the senior journalists of Chittagong on Saturday afternoon at a post city hotel .Former Director of BGMEA and chief coordinator of  Ctg Expo-15 ANM Saifuddin  depicted the aims and objective s of the exclusive  type of Expo going to be organized in the port city. The senior leaders of BGMEA , Chittagong chapter were present in it . The chief coordinator in his brief presentations over the forthcoming Expo, said  Chittagong as the host city of the event bears special significance. Chitagong is the commercial hub of the country and 95% sea borne exports and imports  are handled in Chittagong port. Garments industry started its journey from Chittagong in 1978  and till now a significant portion of the country’s apparel export is generated from Chittagong. Moreover the first and largest EPZ of the country is located in this city.  First vice President Nasiruddin Chowdhury said mega expo will showcase locally developed apprarel products and will provide an ideal opportunity to global apparel retailers to meet the experienced textile manufacturers of Bangladesh. He said the event aims to facilitate dialogue among the stakeholders in 4 inormative seminars to devise ways for Bangladesh to pursue its US$ 50 billion vision  and become a premium brand worldwide by 2021. Nasiruddin Chowdhury finally said  riding on 35 years of experience,  Bangladesh is regarded as one of the preferred apparel sourcing destinations in the world.  He also hoped that the exposition will play a important role in exploring our potentials and ensuring a safe and sustainable apparel sector  in Bangladesh. He also mentioned that Chittagong is the birth place of RMG and the gateway of the country. The views exchange was told that  a press conference over this Expo  will  also be held on August 4 at BGMEA office here.
