The government has decided to supply gas to the under-construction Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Industrial Park at Gazaria of Munshiganj district at a quickest possible time. It also asked the Petrobangla, Titas Gas and BSCIC (Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation) to work together to build necessary infrastructure to ensure a quick gas supply to the API Industrial Park. The decision came today from an inter-ministerial meeting of the Industries Ministry with its minister Amir Hossain Amu presiding. Speaking at the meeting Amu said, ‘With starting of the API Industrial Park, the medicine export will be increased as Bangladesh has been exporting medicines to 80 countries including the USA.’ The government has been working relentlessly to complete the park within a shortest possible time to cash potentialities of exporting medicine abroad, he said, and hoped to complete its construction within the given time. The meeting has discussed measures to supply gas to the API Industrial Park and decided that the BSCIC will disburse Taka 3 crore from the allocated fund for the project in setting up gas linkage line to this end. While the rest of the expenditure will be collected from the owners, who have been allocated plots at the park. State minister for power and energy Nasrul Hamid, secretary of energy and mineral resources division M Abu Bakar Siddik, additional secretary of Industries ministry Begum Parag, BSCIC chairman Ahmed Hossain Khan, Petrobangla chairman Ishtiak Ahmed, and managing director of Titas Gas were present in the meeting.
