Posmi Sweaters commenced a month-long training titled “Fire Safety and Compliance” for apparel workers at its facilities under the “Skills for Employment Investment Program” (SEIP) on Saturday last.The prime motive behind this training programme is to prepare employees for dealing with disasters such as sudden fire, electricity, and earthquake hazards, and making them aware of standard industry regulations, practices, and compliance. A total of 18 modules will be covered under the initiative. Over the next 30 days, 56 hours will be invested behind the entire programme, according to a press release. Forty employees from Posmi Sweaters Ltd., Spectra Sweaters Ltd., and Fame Sweaters Ltd. are taking part in the course. Over the next three years, a total of 43,800 participants of all the RMG Factories will receive training under the SEIP program. The program is mostly funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). ADB not only funds the project, but also monitors its progress. BGMEA is responsible for conducting the training programs of all its member factories, and preparing course module for them.
