The workers of a Ready Made Garment (RMG) factory barricaded the city’s Bayezid Bostami road for over two hours demanding arrear allowances of earned leave on Wednesday. Sources said around 1,000 workers of ‘Clifton Group’ blocked the road at around 5:30pm to press home their demand. They sat down on the busy road and staged a rally, causing suspension of traffic movement. The incident caused a long tailback at Oxygen, Muradpur and Sholoshahar areas. On information, police rushed to the spot. The workers left the street after the factory management assured them of paying the arrear allowances at around 7:15pm, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-North) Sheikh Shariful Islam of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
