Intex South Asia 2015, the international textile sourcing show of Asia will be held from November 16 to 17, in Sri Lankan capital Colombo. The show – a concerted exhibition will bring together textile manufacturers and exporters of yarns, apparel fabrics and clothing accessories from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia etc. According to the organisers, over 150 leading textile suppliers are showcasing their contemporary, trendy and innovative spring summer collections and targeting buyers from South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa and South Asia region. “Intex South Asia is a one-stop sourcing platform to connect with fabric importers, distributors, garment exporters, manufacturers, buying houses and buying agents, retail chains, apparel brands,” a press release stated. “Intex South Asia provides exhibitors and buyers the opportunity to reap the benefits of the booming $67 billion Sri Lankan economy,” the organisers added. Strategically located at cross roads of the East & West sea routes, Sri Lanka is the point of entry to South Asia and a top clothing producing country in the world. With an expected growth rate of 8.5 per cent, Sri Lanka has the reputation of being one of the most business friendly nations within the South Asian region. Being politically neutral and visa friendly, Sri Lanka provides a platform to entrepreneurs from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives etc to freely do business in an encouraging environment. Intex South Asia is organised by Worldex India Exhibition Promotions Pvt. Ltd. and is co-organised by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in association with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL). The exhibition is also supported by various international associations such as the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) and Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA). Other supporters include; Sri Lanka Apparel Sourcing Association (SLASA); Sri Lanka Apparel Brands Association (SLABA) and Fabric and Apparel Accessories Manufacturers’ Association (FAAMA).
