The Appellate Division lifted a ban that had been imposed on the release and screening of the film Rana Plaza today. A four-member appeals bench, led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, cleared the movie for screening after resolving a plea made by producer Shamima Akhter. The High Court had imposed a six-month restriction on the screening of the movie following a writ petition filed by the President of Bangladesh National Garments Workers Employees League on August 24. The writ petition was filed because of some allegedly horrifying scenes portrayed in the movie.
