Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a garment factory owner on charges of providing fund to a militant outfit, ‘Shaheed Hamza Brigade’ on Saturday night. The arrestee identified as Md Anamul Haq hails from Jessore. RAB-7 Staff Officer ASP Sohel Mahmud said RAB men arrested Anamul from Taltala in Turag area of the capital. RAB-7 Commanding Officer Lt Col Miftah Uddin Ahmed said the arrestee deposited Tk 16 lakh in the account of Hamza Brigade Operative Moniruzzaman Don on August 11 last year. With this person, RAB arrested a total of four persons, including three lawyers, on charge of providing fund to the militant outfit. The arrested lawyers are Barrister Sakila Farzana, 39, Advocate Md Hasanuzzaman Liton, 30, and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, 25. Shakila is daughter of Wahidul Alam, central information and research affairs secretary of BNP and former lawmaker from Hathazari constituency in Chittagong, and joint general secretary of BNP-backed Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, Supreme Court Unit. Shakila and Liton practice at Supreme Court while Bapon at Dhaka Judge Court. The arrested lawyers were taken into remand twice and they made confessional statements before courts. They confessed to depositing money in the account of Don, but denied their involvement in financing the militant outfit.
