The industry group ‘Wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur’ has shown a positive growth of 19.47 per cent in the month of August 2015, according to the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2004-05 released by the Central Statistics Office of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The textiles group also showed a positive growth of 3.07 per cent according to the IIP, compiled using data received from 16 source agencies, including the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) and Office of the Textile Commissioner. The General Index for the month of August 2015 stands at 176.9, which is 6.4 per cent higher as compared to the level in the month of August 2014. The cumulative growth for the period April-August 2015-16 over the corresponding period of the previous year stands at 4.1 per cent, an official release said. The Index of Industrial Production for the manufacturing sector for the month of August 2015 stands at 185.3, showing a growth rate of 6.9 per cent compared to August 2014. The cumulative growth in the manufacturing sector during April-August 2015-16 over the corresponding period of 2014-15 has been 4.6 per cent, the release said. As per use-based classification, the growth rates in August 2015 over August 2014 are 3.4 per cent in basic goods, 21.8 per cent in capital goods and 2.6 per cent in intermediate goods. The consumer durables and consumer non-durables have recorded growth of 17.0 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively, with the overall growth in consumer goods being 6.8 per cent.
