Denim fabrics can play a potential role for Bangladesh in achieving the $50 billion export target by 2020 as its demand in the world market is increasing day by day. Investment opportunities are also there in Bangladesh for manufacturing such fabrics as local manufacturers can meet a small portion of the total export demand as of now. This was viewed by the speakers at the opening of two-day ‘Fourth Denims and Jeans Show’ in the capital on Wednesday. The denim fabrics showcasing event was organised by FBBCI as principal partner while the supporting partners were Dhaka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Bangladesh Textile Mills’ Association (BTMA) and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Pankaj Sharan, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, BTMA Vice-President Md Fazlul Haque and DCCI Senior Vice-President Humayun Rashid were present as Special Guests in the opening programme. The Indian High Commissioner said Bangladesh is one of the biggest jeans exporters and its readymade garments export is a successful case. There are a total of 28 participating companies in the two-day showcasing program coming from Brazil, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Italy, Spain, China, Indonesia and Republic of San Marino.
