A fire-fighting unit put out the blaze after about an hour’s effort, Gazipur Fire Service’s Deputy Assistant Director Md Akhtaruzzaman Liton said. The fire damaged goods at the factory but no-one has been injured. The extent of the damage and cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately. But the workers say the factory lacked a fire-extinguishing system. Akhtaruzzaman told news agency the fire was suspected to have originated in the factory’s ‘medical centre’.
