The third edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo to be held on November 11-12, 2015 in Dhaka will focus on ‘sustainable denim’. “We put the focus of this (the 3rd) edition on ‘sustainable denim’, the buzzword that will shape the future of the industry,” Mostafiz Uddin, founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo and managing director, Denim Expert Ltd., told Fibre2Fashion.com. The two-day event will feature a trendzone displaying the latest and future denim trends. In addition, there will be a unique range of seminars and a panel discussion to provide insight into topical issues of the industry, Mostafiz Uddin informed. As a one-stop denim sourcing platform of the entire denim value chain, the expo will provide a wide range of ideas for upcoming trends. Visitors to the fair will be able to discover everything that’s new in denim, and also discover the latest technology, equipment and materials for use within the denim industry. Buyers will able to meet and network with new prospective suppliers. “The show’s aim is not only to promote the denim trade in Bangladesh, but also to encourage better business practice to raise the living standards of the people in this country,” quips Uddin. The event celebrates Bangladesh’s role in shaping the global denim market and explores its future role within the industry. Currently, Bangladesh is – after China – the second largest exporter of jeans to the European market and the third largest to the US. Around 400 Bangladeshi factories export nearly 180 million denim garments to the world every year. In addition there are 25 denim producing factories with a total investment of over $834 million. The monthly production of denim stands at 30 million yards.
