Bangladesh Denim Manufacturers have to diversify their products to attract buyers as the demand for global denim use is on the rise, several ambassadors said on Thursday. The envoys who attended the closing ceremony of a two-day Bangladesh Denim Expo came up with the remarks. The exposition was hosted in the capital to promote Bangladeshi brands to the global market and share knowledge with the international producers to get acquainted with the latest technologies. In her address, Brazil’s Ambassador to Dhaka, Wanja Campose da Nobrega, said: “Concentrate not only on the increase in the number of buyers, but also on the variety of denim products as they have gone international.” Bangladesh’s denim has tremendous potential to grow in the international market, she said, adding that the denim market will continue to grow in future. “Diversify products with open mind and it can be the key to success,” said Hanne Fugl Eskjær, Denish ambassador to Bangladesh. Attending the ceremony, Russian Ambassador Alexander A Nikolaev said Russia is a potential market for Bangladeshi products. “Send well-advanced information to Russian participants and potential buyers so that they can take part in the expo.” British High Commissioner Robert Gibson said: “There are challenges and difficulties which have to be embraced by the manufacturers.” He called for investment in technology to protect environment, stressing that skilled workforce is the powerhouse of a nation’s economy and the private sector has to be in the driver’s seat. “Better days are ahead in terms of gas and electricity supply. The is a good news for RMG factory owners that the government is importing Natural Liquid Gas (NLG) from Qatar,” said Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs adviser to the prime minister. Towfiq was present as the guest of honor in the closing ceremony.
