The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) along with Gujarat State Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) recently presented the second edition of ‘Huts to High Street’, at IIM-Ahmedabad, as per the organisation’s press release. Endorsing Prime Minister Modi’s message of making khadi fashionable, the fashion show presented collections soaked in Indian heritage by Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Pero by Aneeth Arora, and 11.11. The designers gave innovative twists to hand spun and woven garments. “We are honoured to have taken our association with the Gujarat State Khadi & Village Industries Board a step further to catapult khadi through an even bigger second edition of this magnificent showcase. This initiative will help promote languishing weavers who will be enabled with employment creating a market for this India cool fabric. It is an honour to have a show at Louis Kahn Plaza of IIM Ahmedabad,” FDCI president Sunil Sethi said on the occasion. Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor walked the ramp for designers Rajesh Pratap Singh and Rohit Bal, to support and promote khadi. Khadi’s celebration was witnessed by prominent personalities from industrialists, textile aficionados, and senior level bureaucrats, members of the film industry, and faculties and students from Gujarat design, and business institutes.
