The third Bangladesh Denim Expo begins at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka today in an aim to display the latest and future denim trends before the global buyers. As many as 39 companies are participating in the expo. Among them, 10 are international companies from China, Germany, India, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and the United States. The theme of the current show is ‘Sustainable Denim’. The expo will highlight eco-sustainable denim developments, consumer trends and sustainability in denim design and accessories. Organisers said that a group of international experts would address all aspects of sustainability, ecology and consciousness — from manufacturing to dying and wet-processing — in four seminars and one panel discussion during the expo. The subjects of the seminars are: ‘Branding through Green Denim (Environmental Sustainability)’, ‘Safe and Responsible Supply Chain’, ‘Innovating Sustainable Denim for New Generation Market’, and ‘Sustainable Wet Processing’. The panel discussions will be held on ‘Building leaders for sustained growth’. Founder and chief executive officer of Bangladesh Denim Expo Mostafiz Uddin said that they were going to organise the November expo in greater scale after getting huge response from across the world during the last Bangladesh Denim Expo held in May this year. ‘The aim of the expo is not only to promote the denim trade in Bangladesh but also to encourage better business practice to raise living standard of the people in this country’, he said.
