At least 20 garment workers were injured in a fire panic in a garment factory in Ulail area beside Dhaka-Aricha highway on Monday morning. Farhad Hossain, assistant deputy manager of Al-Muslim Garment factory, said the fire broke out on the 11th floor of the factory in the morning from an electric short circuit and extinguished within 2/3 minutes. As the news spread, workers of the factory, where 20,000 people are employed, started scrambling down the stairs, leaving 20 of them injured. Later, the workers blocked the highway which halted vehicular movement on the highway. On information, a team of Savar Model Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured workers took primary treatment. Additional police were also deployed in the area to avoid any unpleasant incident.
