The Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) along with the SME Foundation has started training 35 women, including five who were affected in the Rana Plaza tragedy, to help them start new business. The five-day training programme started on Sunday at the Sheuti Training Centre in the city. WEAB’s founder president Nasreen Fatema Awal inaugurated the programme in presence of its incumbent president Shahruk Rahman and other executive committee members. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Awal emphasised the importance of women’s contribution to economic growth through entrepreneurship. She elaborated on how WEAB had been working to involve more women in economic activities. She requested the participants to complete the training and utilise the knowledge to start new business. After successful completion of the training the participants would be able to work as “Cutting Master” or start their own boutique business, the organisers said.
