Jatiya Mukti Council and Bangladesh Khetmajur Samity on Tuesday demanded cancellation of the government plan to develop special economic zone in Habiganj which might render many tea garden workers jobless. In a statement, Jatiya Mukti Council president Badruddin Umar and secretary Faiezul Hakim called upon the socio-political organisations to protest against anti-people move by the government. In a separate statement, Bangladesh Khetmajur Samity, expressing solidarity with the protesting tea garden workers, also demanded that the government drop such decision considering the livelihood of the workers.
