Chinese Ambassador in Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang said Chinese entrepreneurs are interested to invest in Anwara. The ambassador said this while visiting the Saad Musa Industrial Park at Anwara upazila of Chittagong on Friday afternoon. The team members visiting the Industrial Park with the Ambassador also said they would invest in the Saad Musa Industrial Park as they are pleased to see the infrastructure and facilities in the exclusive industrial zone in the private sector. Authorities of the Industrial Park said more than 100,000 jobs would be created if the Chinese entrepreneurs invest in the specialised textile zone. Managing Director of the Saad Musa Industrial Park Mohammed Mohsin and Deputy Managing Director Moinuddin Ahmed Chowdhury welcomed the Chinese Ambassador and team members at the industrial zone. The Ambassador Mingqiang yesterday laid foundation stone of the MA Rahman Dyeing Factory, an associate industry of the Saad Musa Industrial Park. The team headed by the Ambassador spent over one and a half hours in the industrial zone and held a meeting with the management of the industrial park. They exchanged views with the MD of the Industrial Park on different aspects, including the future investment in the zone. The Saad Musa Industrial Zone was established at Anwara upazila headquarters on 100 acres of land in 2011. Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman inaugurated the industrial zone. The industrial zone currently has six industries owned by the Saad Musa Group and 10,000 workers are employed in those industries. The authority has also planned to set up 18 more industrial units in the zone within next few years. Saad Musa group started its journey in 1982 at Jalalabad in the city. It has a few major industries at different places which have earned export trophy for the group last year. Managing Director of the Saad Musa Industrial Park Mohammed Mohsin said utility services like gas and electricity are important for running the industries. “We have informed the Chinese Ambassador and members of the delegation about the infrastructure problems. Still, we hope that they will come with investment proposals soon.” The Chinese Ambassador also visited the proposed Karnaphuli Tunnel at Patenga’s Marine Academy area. Construction work of the tunnel is expected to start from March with the financial support of the Chinese government.
