A fire broke out at a sweater factory in Chhoidana Hajirpukur area of the city on Tuesday morning. Hasibur Rahman, an officer at Joydebpur Fire Service Station, said the fire broke out in Priti Sweater Factory on the top floor of an eight-storey building around 4:30am. He said machinery, clothes and other valuables of the factory were damaged in the fire. On information, 12 firefighting units from different fire service stations, including Gazipur, Joydebpur, Tongi and Uttara rushed in and put out the fire around 6.00am. It could not be ascertained yet what caused the fire, Hasib said.
