A court rejected on Monday a bail plea by a Rajuk building inspector and sent him to jail, pending further legal procedures, involving a murder case filed over the collapse of Rana Plaza, the country’s worst industrial disaster. Dhaka senior Judicial Magistrate Shahjadi Tahmida passed the order against inspector Awlad Hossain represented by lawyer A K M Nasiruzzaman. Hossain has long been absconding to avoid his arrests in the sensational case of the collapse that had killed more than 1100 workers in 2013. He surrendered before the court on Monday morning as he was made an accused in the murder case filed by police on April 25, 2013. Another fourteen accused in the case still remain fugitive. On December 21, 2015 the court accepted the chargesheet in the murder case and issued arrest warrants against 24 people who remained fugitive.
