Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday called upon the Indian businessmen to invest in the proposed special economic zone in Kushtia District as the government would provide all necessary support to run business smoothly and make profit, reports BSS. “The government has adopted plan to establish one hundred economic zones across the country while thirty is under process,” he told the reporters after a meeting with the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harshvardhan Shringla at the commerce ministry here, said a release. The Minister said India is a historically genuine friend and the two friendly nations are working together in various issues like border hat which is helpful to further strengthen the relation. “The border people are showing keen interest on border hat,” he added. During the meeting, they discussed various issues including investment, trade and commerce. Harshavardhan Shringla pointed out the issue of raw jute and said many Indian jute industries production depend on the country’s raw jute. Tofail assured the high commissioner to solve all trade related problems by arranging high level meeting between the two countries as Dhaka-New Delhi has shown better performance on enclave issues. Among others, Senior Secretary of Commerce Ministry Hedayetullah Al Mamoon and Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dr Adarsh Swaika were present on the occasion.
