A $12.5 million green project of Comfit Composite Knit Ltd (CCKL) will create employment for 2,500 more people. Sixty per cent of the estimated project will be invested by the company itself while the rest will be financed from bank loans, CCKL Director Akbor Haider Munna informed. The project, on a 6 storied building of situated in Comfit Composite knit constructed maintaining all requirement of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the USA. “We are maintaining energy modeling, Water Treatment Plant (WTP), rain water harvesting, sites management, recycling materials and zero discharge from effluent treatment plant (ETP). We will have knitting, sewing, international standard 3rd party testing lab etc in the project,” said Akbor Haider. The director of the factory also said the project has already been started partially with some tiny productions without destroying environment. “We are managing garbage, growing plantation, recycling few material, using low water. We will collect rain water, reduce our energy use with LED and use solar energy in implementing the project,” he said. “Our knitting has been started and full operation will be started within 2 months and sewing will partially be begun within next month. We have plan for Tee, Basic Polo & Lingerie,” he added.
