The BGMEA Cup, the first-ever inter-garments seven-a-side football tournament, organised by Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) with support from Leo Entertainment, resumes today at International Turkish Hope School in Uttara. Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals while the third- and fourth-placed teams will make it to the last four of the Plate category. Earlier last week, BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman chaired the official press conference while vice presidents Mohammad Nasir and Ferdous Parvez Bivon, director Ashiqur Rahman Tuhin, former presidents Abdus Salam Murshedy, Safiul Islam Mohiuddin and Anwarul Alam Chowdhury Parvez and other members inaugurated the football tournament. 12 reputed garments – Ananta Garments Ltd, Apparel Industry Ltd, Bando Design Ltd, Comfit Composite Knit Ltd, Envoy Group, Epyllion Group, Interstoff Group, Rayon Tex Group, Tamanna Apparels Group, Sterling Group, Versatile Group and Torque Fashions Ltd – will participate across two groups in the tournament. Islami Bank, Exim Bank, Sailor, Amaze Power, Rising Group CBL Munchee, Porcelanosa by Nupami Trading and BBS Cables are associated as tournament partners. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will be the chief guest in the grand finale on April 1.
