Leaders of the Bangladesh Trade Union Centre at a protest rally in the capital on Tuesday called on the government to form a wage commission for increasing wage of the workers and announce Tk 10,000 as national minimum wage for the workers. Trade Union Sangha held a protest rally in front of the National Press Club, where its general secretary Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam said the government already implemented pay commission for the government officials and employees. But they did not take any initiative for increasing the wage of workers of nationalised mills and factories. Habib Ullah Bacchu, president of the centre who chaired the rally, demanded a democratic labour law removing the undemocratic sections of the law which was formulated in 2013. Labour leaders Mohammad Yeasin, Rafiqul Islam and Prakash Dutta spoke at the rally.
