RMG worker leaders on Tuesday demanded reappointment of 192 sacked workers of Ducati Apparels Ltd as well as putting an end to the anti-trade union activities. They claimed that the garment factory owner terminated the workers on February 25, defying the existing labour law. They alleged that the workers were fired only because of their initiative to form trade union in the factory. The leaders also said forming trade union is the workers’ basic rights, but the garment factory owners are frequently violating it. They said these at a demonstration, held in front of the National Press Club in the city. After the protest they held a red-flag rally. Chairman of National Garment Workers Federation Md. Amirul Haque Amin, chairman of National Garment Workers Staff Federation M Delowar Hossen, and general secretary of Ekota Garment Workers Federation Kamrul Hasan, among others, were present in the programmes.
