Garment workers of Dhaka city have urged the authorities concerned to implement the rent control act effectively to save them from the pressure increasing house rent. They made the demand at a human chain programme, held in front of the National Press Club in the city on Tuesday. The demonstrators, under the banner of Samomona Garments Shramik Sangathan Samuha, also submitted a memorandum to Dhaka north city mayor Anisul Haque to press home their five-point demand that included fixing house rent as per size and location of the house and placing complain boxes at city corporations regional offices to receive tenants’ complaints in this regard.
