A three-day US Trade Show begins at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka tomorrow with a view to enhancing trade relations between Bangladesh and the United States. American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh and the US Embassy-Dhaka are jointly organising the trade show that will showcase American products and services available in Bangladesh, AmCham president Md Nurul Islam said at a press briefing in the city on Tuesday. Forty exhibitors including consumer goods producers, education institutions and information technology companies will be participating in the show, he said. Organisations like MasterCard International, Visa, IBM, Havard University, US Embassy-Dhaka, Ford Motor Company and Chevron Corporation will participate at the trade show, AmCham secretary HN Ashikur Rahman said. AmCham vice-president Showkat Ali Sarker, US Embassy-Dhaka political/economic/commercial officer Andrea Brouillette-Rodriguez and US Embassy-Dhaka economic/commercial officer Daniel Keen were also present at the briefing. The fair will remain open for all from 10:00am to 8:00pm from till Saturday. The entry fee of the fair has been fixed at Tk 20 a person, but students with uniform and identity cards will enjoy free access. Three visitors will be awarded tickets to visit Singapore, Thailand and Cox’s Bazar based on a raffle draw. Rodriguez said the fair, like the previous years, would help build trade relations between the US and Bangladesh. Keen said the US-Bangladesh trade reached around $7 billion, including around $6 billion export of goods from Bangladesh, and it had been growing faster than the Bangladesh’s economic growth. The US business interest in Bangladesh has been rising dramatically as the number of queries from US businesses has been increased significantly over last couple of years, he said.
