A two-day Denim Expo to brand Bangladeshi denim products to the world ended on Tuesday with a huge response from the local and international buyers and visitors related with the sector. Bangladesh Denim Expo organised the fair at the Basundhara International Convention Centre in the capital with the participation of around 49 participants – 37 companies from 12 foreign and 12 from Bangladesh. Organizers claimed that almost 6,000 visitors from home and abroad visited the expo.Talking to the Daily Observer, after the inaugural session of the expo, participants from home and abroad expected the expo on a specific product will help to add value to the apparel industry as it brought people around the globe under one umbrella.Praising the initiative, Netherlands Ambassador to Dhaka Leoni Margaretha Cuelenaere told the Daily Observer that it is really a great job of the Bangladesh Denim Expo to initiate branding Bangladeshi denim products to the world.”Bangladesh produces the best denim products in the world. Bangladeshi factories are meeting the sustainable manufacturing conditions and not using much water, electricity and other natural resources. The expo will help Bangladesh to expand its market in abroad,” she said.BGMEA Vice President Faruq Hasan said the BATEXPO was a platform of getting together for the readymade garments (RMG) sector. There were huge gathering of the all the sector people. But Bangladesh Denim Expo is organised for a specific item that focuses on every inch and outs of the product.”The expo will help RMG, specifically the denim manufacturers adding value. In the expo, different types of manufactures that produces higher products join and local people can be enriched”, he added.Raymotex Corporation Managing Director Kamal Uddin told the Daily Observer that Mustafiz Uddin of Bangladesh Denim Expo has done the work that the government should have done earlier. He hasn’t done this for getting any profit, but to brand Bangladesh and its denim products to the world.”The initiative of Denim Expo has helped Bangladesh to change the concept of denim business for the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs. Earlier, the foreign buyers showed Bangladeshi manufacturers the products that they want to buy. Now, they chose Bangladeshi designs and order for buying. It has been possible due to the initiative of Denim Expo,” he added.Kazi Obaidur Rahman, AGM of marketing and R&D of Shasha Denim said that at present Bangladesh is producing basic fabrics to mid level standard fabrics. But we are installing high technology industries that would help us to produce high standard fabrics. The latest trend shows the capacity of the country to produce denim fabrics and products is increasing day by day.Alev Patil of W Denim and Ibrahim Halil Hacikamiloglu of FERA TEKSTIL Pazarlama from Turkey said that they are new in the expo, the fourth edition of such expo organised by the Denim Expo. They are trying to expand their denim market in Bangladesh. At the same time, they are trying to know about Bangladesh’s denim products.
