Sporting goods brand Adidas’s widely discussed Speedfactory will commence large-scale commercial production in 2017 from Ansbach, Germany. The brand set up its pilot Speedfactory in Ansbach in 2015 to provide consumers more customisation during product creation. Claimed to be the future of manufacturing, the Speedfactory will feature revolutionary automated production concepts that not only offer high-performance quality to consumers, but also render unique design to the product. The factory, spread across an area of 4,600 square metres, will release its first product later this year. Large-scale production at the factory will be operated by Oechsler Motion, Adidas’s strategic partner. “With Adidas Speedfactory, we are revolutionising the industry. It’s a constantly changing world out there and our consumers always want the latest and newest product – and they want it now,” Herbert Hainer, CEO of the company commented. “That’s what Adidas Speedfactory delivers, starting right here in Germany, with best-in-class German technology,” he added.
