State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu Sunday asked the readymade garment factory owners to pay wages of workers for the month of June before holy Ramadan and festival bonus before 21st of Ramadan, reports BSS. “We want that the owners and workers should observe the holy Eid-ul-Fitr together. So we want owners to pay the wages and bonus before Eid holiday,” State Minister for Labour and Employment told the journalists after a meeting of Crisis Management Core Committee at the ministry’s conference room here today. He also called upon the factory owners to give Eid leave in phases to their workers to avoid traffic jams on highways. Labour and Employment Secretary Mikail Shiper, representatives of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), garment owners, law enforcement agencies and representatives from garment workers’ panels were present at the meeting.
