BGAPMEA is going to organise the eighth edition of GAPEXPO-2017, an international expo on garments accessories, on January 18 to showcasing latest products, machinery and raw materials to attract buyers. Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), ASK Trade and Exhibition Private Limited, India, and Zakaria Trade and Fair International jointly will organise expo.The four-day mega show on RMG accessory will be held in between January 18 to 21, 2017 at the International Convention City, Bashundhara in the capital.“GAPEXPO-2017 provides an international standards platform for manufacturers to display latest accessories products for the RMG exporters and buying houses from home and abroad,” BGAPMEA president Abdul Kader Khan said.It also helps domestic manufacturers of RMG accessories exchange views with the other manufacturers to enrich their knowledge, Kader said.Bangladesh RMG sector has set export target of $50 billion by 2021 and the accessories sector can help attaining the target if the government provides policy support, said Khan. “We will be able to contribute about $12 billion to attain the target,” he added.In the last fiscal year, deemed export earnings of garment accessories and packaging stood at $6.12 billion, which is 9.28 per cent higher compared to $5.6 billion in the previous year.Currently, Bangladesh has the ability to meet over 95 per cent of local demand, while we are now exporting to some other countries, the BGAPMEA leaders said.In the expo, there will have about 600 stalls in 8 halls, where manufacturers from Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, USA, United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Finland and Switzerland will exhibit their latest products. A total of 94 companies from home and abroad will display garments accessories and packaging items with machinery, all kinds of garments machinery with boiler and spare parts.
