International Art Camp sets off today in KEPZ: IABB 2016

As part of the 17th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh (IABB), Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in collaboration with Youngone Corporation is going to organise an international art camp from December 5 to 7 at the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chittagong, one of the world’s most acclaimed environment-friendly industrial zones. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor  will inaugurate the art camp as chief guest on December 6. This is the first time such an international art camp is taking place in Bangladesh, where 19 eminent artists from different countries including Bangladesh are taking part. The participating artists at the art camp are Dhiraj Chowdhury (India) Tan Gin Gang (China), Toyomi Hoshina (Japan), Song Desup (Republic of Korea), Jagath Rabindra (Sri Lanka) and Bangladesh’s renowned artists — Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam, Mahmudul Haque, Kalidas Karmakar, Abul Bark Alvi, Mohammad Eunus, Farida Zaman, Naima Haque, Nazlee Laila Mansur, Rokeya Sultana, M. Muniruzzaman and Mohammad Iqbal Ali. Apart from the three-day art camp, there will be cultural programme participated by the local artistes. Each artist will create two paintings, which will be exhibited in the next 18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh. The art camp hopes to reach great heights through developing stronger artistic and cultural ties among all the participating artists of 54 countries. Since its inception from 1981, Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh has become a major international art event bringing together artists and contemporary artworks of the world. The biennale is expected to boost the inter-cultural understanding and cooperation among the artists of the world.
