A 16-year-old RMG worker was gang-raped on Saturday at Mohammadpur in Dhaka. Police arrested a man in this connection and took him on a seven-day remand. The victim, a resident of Nabadoy housing area at Mohammadpur, was raped on Saturday when she went to Ekota Housing area with a male friend. Five local miscreants aged18-22 violated her in a nearby catkin bush, confining her friend forcefully, a source said. The victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday and is currently admitted to One Stop Crisis Centre in the hospital. The victim named Rakib, Yunus, Billal, Kabir and Shahin as the rapists. Victim’s mother has filed a case with Mohammadpur police station on Sunday, Mohammadpur police station OC Jamal Uddin Mir told the Dhaka Tribune. Police arrested Rakib, 22, for his alleged involvement in the rape. The OC said: “We are carrying out drives to arrest the other accused.”
