Leather production in the country has been increased to 13.16 percent during the last three fiscal (FY) with producing 4,76,23,060 pieces of leather.”Bangladesh produced 4,76,23,060 pieces of leather and increased production to 13.16 percent in the last three fiscal,” Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque said, this, while replying to a stared question from treasury bench member M Abul Kalam of Natore-1 in the Jatiya Sangsad today.He said the country produced 1,70,03,407 pieces of leather in 2015-16 FY, 1,55,94,602 pieces in 2014-15 FY and 1,50,25,051 pieces in 2013-14 fiscal.Replying to another question from treasury bench member Alhaj Advocate M Rahmat Ali of Gazipur-3, the minister said the government disbursed Taka 33.72 crore among poor and marginal fish farmers under “Small Loan Index in Fisheries sector-2011″.”The disbursed small loan in the fisheries sector is interest free and the government realized and added the loan as revolving fund and redistributed among those poor and marginal fish farmers again under small loan distribution index,” Haque informed the House.BSS.
