Garment workers on Friday demanded that they be paid by 20th of Ramadan an equal amount of their one month’s basic wage as festival bonus for upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.The demand was made from a rally organised by Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra in Malibagh area in the afternoon.The RMG workers also sought allocation for their accommodation, rationing and health in the national budget, said a press release.Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra General Secretary Joli Talukdar said although all the service holders, including the government and private sector ones, get an equal amount of their one month’s basic salary as festival allowance, the garment workers are always deprived of it. “Two different rules can’t exist in a single country,” she said.Central leaders of the organisation — MA Shaheen, Monjur Moin, Abu Bakar and Afroza Aktar — also spoke on the occasion.
