The government has taken various steps for keeping up the trend of increasing the readymade garment (RMG) export as 82 per cent of the country’s total export earnings come from this sector.Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said this while replying to a starred question placed by Jatiya Party lawmaker Nurul Islam Milon of Comilla-8 at the House here.As part of the initiative, he said, the government is sending government commercial delegations to different developed countries including Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Chili and Russia.In addition to this, measures have also been taken to send marketing missions abroad, organize single country apparel fair, national and international RMG fair for expanding the RMG market, the minster added.”The government is setting up commercial wings at the Bangladesh missions abroad for deeply reviewing regional markets, Tofail added.A proposal has been sent to the Public Administration Ministry for opening commercial wings in Istanbul, Kunming and South Africa, the minister said.
