Employees of Khulna Shiromoni Jute Spinners Mill on Thursday declared a seven-day program demanding their salaries including arrears totalling an eye-watering TK 12 crore. They also demanded restarting the halted production process in the mill. Both CBA (collective bargaining agencies, a limited form of trade union) and non-CBA leaders of the mill came up with the declaration at a press-meet.One of the leaders Md. Rabiul Islam said, the mill labors and their family members are passing their hardest days starving and their children are out of school as the mill authority did not pay their dues after shutting down.Included in the plan of action for the program are a labor meeting at Shahid Minar, submitting memorandum to the DC, forming human chain, processions, ‘Bhukha’ (fasting) processions, and hunger strike.Stricter programs like laying siege to routes and railroads will be declared if the demands are not fulfilled, said Rabiul.
