State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Tuesday asked the garment factory owners to clear all kind of workers’ payments including salaries and festival bonuses by June 14.The state minister made the remarks while speaking at the special meeting of the national crisis management committee at the secretariat office in Dhaka.After the meeting, he said that the government and factory owners are taking efficient steps to ensure timely payment of the salaries and festival bonuses among 44 lakh garment workers to avert any unrest ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.The government has given instruction to the members of industry owners’ associations to pay the salary for May which will help the workers to celebrate Eid, said the state minister.He also urged the factory owners to allocate Eid vacation by phases so that the massive number of workers can leave their workstations without any traffic congestion on roads and highways.The Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to be held on June 16 depending on moon sighting.
