Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president Siddiqur Rahman on Sunday said the agitating apparel workers will not get their wages factories will remain shut for indefinite time if they do not if they do not join their works by Monday.He made the comment at a press conference held at BGMEA conference room in the capital.The BGMEA chief said they will have no option but closing down the factories for indefinite period as per section 13/1 of the labour law. He branded the workers’ agitation illogical and alleged that a section of perpetrators from both home and abroad might have involved in the agitation.The fresh spell of labour unrest in Bangladesh apparel sector began on January 6 as the worker demand for proportional wage hike for all grades of workers.The government on November, 2018 announced new minimum wage of apparel workers in the seventh grade to Tk 8,000 from Tk 5,300.Workers alleged that the wages in other grades did not increase proportionately and they took to the street rejecting the new wage structure.
