Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das made a courtesy call on Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Rubana Huq at the BGMEA office on Sunday. During the meeting, they discussed ways to move forward the existing bilateral trade relations further between Bangladesh and India. Riva Ganguly said that readymade garment was an important sector of Bangladesh and the export of the apparel items to India had been increased for duty free access. Terming India as one of the big markets for Bangladeshi RMG, Rubana Huq said that Bangladesh also imported fabrics and some other items from India and it was a win-win situation for both the countries. The BGMEA president said that both the countries had enormous opportunities of bilateral trade and that was why export oriented connectivity issues should be implemented along with infrastructure development for greater benefit. Deputy high commissioner of India Adarsh Swaika, BGMEA senior vice-president Foysal Samad, vice-president Md Mashiul Azam and directors were present.
