Thanks to huge sale of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and RMG products, the net profit of BEXIMCO (Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited), reportedly, increased by 670 per cent to nearly Taka 155.74 crore in the second quarter (October to December) of 2020 as compared with that in the previous year.
This was underlined by media reports which maintained BEXIMCO, compared to Taka 20.23 crore and earnings per share of Taka 0.23, respectively, in the same period during the previous year, posted net profit of Taka 155.74 crore and earnings per share of Taka 1.78 in the October-December period of 2020, which further added that BEXIMCO’s revenue soared to Taka 1,003 crore from Taka 433 crore in the period.
Speaking to the media, Director of BEXIMCO, Osman Kaiser Chowdhury, reportedly, credited huge sales of PPE and apparel products for the company’s robust profit during the third quarter even as Executive Director and Company Secretary of BEXIMCO, Mohammad Asad Ullah, on his part said that the PPEs, masks and garment products were in great demand.
It may be mentioned here that the PPEs were manufactured by BEXIMCO’s textile and apparel division (which is one of the largest in the country), which supplies to global biggies including the likes of Calvin Klein, Target, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors and PVH.
For information, BEXIMCO flagged off its PPE export by shipping 6.5 million custom-made medical gowns, as per the specifications of the US Federal Emergency Management Agency.
