More and more apparel manufacturers are coming forward to get their workers and staff vaccinated within the company premises. Moving one step forward, Gurugram-based Richa Global Exports,which is one of the leading apparel export houses of India, has initiated such a camp in its one of the factories. Interestingly not only its own manpower is getting vaccinated, but workers/staff of nearby factories and villagers are also getting jab. Dinesh Mehra, GM-Admin of the company,said, “With the support and guidance of Dr. Virender Yadav, Civil Surgeon, Gurugram, we have managed the things in such a way that maximum people near our factory are getting benefitted. As far as our 11 units of Gurugram and Manesar are concerned, around 650 workers will also get vaccination from this facility.” He further added that the company is also willing to start the same exercise in all its units of Noida and Bengaluru. Under the leadership of Virender Uppal, MD of the company and Ex-President of AEPC, Richa Global is also known for its CSR efforts. Another leading apparel export company Modelama Exports is also organising such a vaccination camp in its two factories. Nearly 1,000 workers and staff members of the entire Group will be vaccinated in these camps.
Arvind Rai, Director of the company, informed, “Our workers are enthusiastically coming forward for vaccination. Local administration is also very helpful in this entire process.” Known for its workers’ friendly policies, Modelama Exports has total of 8 factories. Lalit Gulati, Chairman of the company and industry veteran also urged everyone to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour In Tirupur, senior State Government officials had a virtual meeting with apparel manufacturers and advised them to be proactive about restricting the spread of the virus. Besides enforcing strict adherence to SOPs, apparel manufacturers were told to encourage eligible staff to get vaccinated. With Covid cases crossing the 20,000-mark in Tirupur, local health department plans to vaccinate at least 5,000 people per day.
