The Sammilita Parishad on Sunday submitted nominations for the posts of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) office bearers to the election board chair for 2021-2023 period. The newly elected Director Shahidullah Azim confirmed the matter to the Business Standard. As per the submitted nominations, the candidates are – Faruque Hassan, president; Syed Nazrul Islam (Chattogram), first vice president; SM Mannan Kochi, senior vice president; Shahidullah Azim, vice president; Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice president (finance); Miran Ali, vice president; Md Nasiruddin, vice president and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Vice President (Chattogram). Faruque Hassan said, “The office bearers election was scheduled to be held on 16 April, but due to single nominations, it will be uncontested.” He expressed hope that the election board will announce the result by Monday. The BGMEA biennial election was held on 4 April. Lead by Faruque Hassan, Sammilita Parishad won 24 directors’ post out of 35 in that election.
