Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan has urged the Commerce Ministry to simplify export procedures for the apparel sector to help it tackle the current challenges of the pandemic and move ahead.
He made the request during a meeting with Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh at the ministry on Wednesday.
BGMEA Vice-President Miran Ali and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Vice-President Mohammad Hatem also attended the meeting.
Faruque Hassan said: “The garment factories are still struggling to survive and recover from the losses and shocks caused by the pandemic. Given the critical situation, simplification of export procedures would help the industry turn around.”
Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said the ministry would consider ways to simplify export procedures and take steps accordingly.
