The government is going to confer “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial Award 2020” to 23 business organisations for the first time to boost the private industries.
The industries ministry will award the organisations under seven categories to recognise their outstanding contribution to the industrial sector.
Four business firms –Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, Jaj Bhuiyan Textile Mills Ltd, Adury Apparels Ltd, and Universal Jeans Ltd, Chattogram — have been selected for the award under the large industry category.
Auko Tex Ltd, Fortune Shoes Ltd, Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy Ltd, and Madhobdi Dyeing Finishing Mills Ltd have been selected under the medium industry category.
Aman Plastic Industries, SR Handicrafts, Pabna, and Alim Industries Limited, Sylhet have been selected under the small industry category.
M/S Karukola, Jamalpur, Trim Tex Bangladesh, Dhaka, and Janata Engineering, Chuadanga were selected under the micro-industry category while ServicEngine Ltd, Super Star Electronics Limited, and Mir Telecom Ltd under the Hi-Tech industry category.
Besides, Classical Handmade Product BD, Nilphamari, Ayojon Jashore, and Sonagaon Nakhsikatha Mohila Unnayan Sangstha, Naryanganj were selected under the handicrafts industry category while Cumilla Arts and Crafts, Cumilla, Rongmela Nari Unnayan Sangstha, Naryanganj, and Agroj, Dhaka are selected under cottage industry category.
Zakia Sultana, secretary of the ministry, said the awardees would be given a gold medal, a replica of the award, a certificate and cash.
Besides, the award-winners will be allowed to use the VIP lounge at the airports in the country for the next three years, she told The Daily Star.
Sultana said they have placed the summary of the award to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for approval and was expecting to hand over the award by September this year.
